Planning Officials Tackle Zoning, Demographics

Updated: Thu 11:53 PM, Oct 25, 2012

Officials who plan for our future are gathered in the Queen City this week.

The Mississippi group of the American Planning Association met at the
MSU Riley Center on Thursday to discuss a number of issues relating to the realm of planning. Officials looked at changing demographics and strong water quality among other things.

"And hopefully we're going to be able to bring these back to our local communities so that we can become better planners across the board," APA chapter president Ed Shambra says. "Basically, doing zoning, subdivision ordinances. Just basically learning how to relate to public hearing and things of that nature."

The APA was formed in 1978.
