Waynesboro Police Chief James Bunch says his office has had several calls about a scam.
He said someone is calling cell-phone numbers and offering people prizes up to $250,000. But they first have to buy a $150 pre-paid VISA and supply that number to the caller.
Bunch says the caller claims to represent Las Vegas casinos. But he says they are just scamming money through the pre-paid cards. There are no prizes.
Bunch warns everyone, don't fall for it. He said the scammers might alter some of the details, but this is not how legitimate companies award prizes.
