Police Chief James Lee comes to Meridian at a time when the Queen City is facing crime outbreaks on a regular basis. Newscenter 11 spoke with him on some of those issues.

Chief Lee says residents often forget all that Meridian has to offer. Lee compared his police department to the city, saying both are full of potential. He recently unveiled his new "See Something, Say Something" plan as a tool to fight crime, and he has high hopes for its success.

"The position of this police department is to do what Theodore Roosevelt told the American Indian," Chief Lee said." "We must endeavor to persevere. And we shall persevere."

Chief Lee says while it is a serious issue, crime in Meridian is not as bad as the numbers appear when examining the size and traffic of the city on a daily basis. On the Record with Chief Lee airs Sunday at 5:30 p.m. on WTOK-TV.
