Police Identify Possible Motive for Shooting

Rondarius Phillips

Meridian police have charged a Meridian man with manslaughter in the shooting death of his cousin.

Rondarious Phillips turned himself in Friday in the shooting death of Randarious Smith last week in Meridian.

Phillips is charged with manslaughter and for being a felon in possession of a firearm.

Police say the shooting came after an argument between the two men.

"It appears that, based on the investigation, there was a disagreement over money," said Reed. "Our victim may have owed the suspect."

Bond was set at $250,000 for Phillips on the manslaughter charge, and $25,000 on the gun possession charge.
