In all, seven people will stand trial on charges stemming from a Kemper County kidnapping.

Kemper County, Miss. Jessie Mae Pollard is fit to stand trial in November, according to Kemper County Sheriff James Moore.

Sheriff Moore tells Newscenter 11 Pollard was recently sent to Texas for an evaluation to determine whether she is competent enough to stand trial. Pollard is said to be the mastermind in an April kidnapping.

"She was arraigned on Tuesday of this week," Moore says. "Now the trial is set for November the 6th for everybody."

Everybody includes Pollard, her son Davonta Pollard, Shamarius Ruffin, Shaquayla Johnigan, Joyce, Johnigan, James Johnigan, and Wanda Dancy. At this time, it is still unclear exactly how each person was involved in the kidnapping of 6-year old Jashayla Hopson.

"Well, we're not going to speak about what each individual role is," Moore maintains. "For the most part, we're going to let that come out in court."

It all started when the 6-year old child was taken from East Kemper Elementary School on the afternoon of April 30th. Authorities say the kidnapping stemmed from a dispute over land. Roughly 24 hours later, Hopson was discovered outside of a home on Burrage Road in southern Lauderdale County where investigators say her kidnappers left her. This is certainly one of Sheriff Moore's biggest cases ever.

Since the incident back in April, the sheriff tells us the Kemper County School Board has voted to place a school resource officer on every campus in the county to keep this from ever happening again.

"The little girl went through a lot," the sheriff points out. "Her mom and dad and anybody that knows them and cares about them, went through a lot. So, it's still a long healing process for them."

Sheriff Moore says all seven suspects face kidnapping charges.
