RLT Smith Head Start hosted its annual awareness program Friday.
The event highlights the services offered by Head Start to preschool age children.
Head Start helps prepare children for first grade. Students learn the alphabet, counting, and to learn in a classroom environment. On days like this, they get to perform for an audience.
"We do this because there's a lot of people that don't know that Head Start is available to the children and the services that we offer," said teacher Orleatha Criss. "And we want to make the community aware of the things that go on in the head start program."
Criss says it's a good experience for the children to be on stage and share what they're learning with their parents and grandparents.
