If you listen to one of The Radio People stations, chances are you have already heard them talking about angels from the Salvation Army Angel Tree,
Scott Stevens, operations manager for The Radio People, says, "We give listeners the opportunity to call in to our shows. We also invite them to come on by our studios, just as other angel tree locations do. They can come on by our studios on Old Highway 45 and pick up and angel, and then we just ask that they bring the gifts back here."
Each of the four stations then tries to adopt out as many as possible by describing the angels on the air.
Stevens explains, "In the three to four weeks that we have the opportunity to adopt out angels, literally hundreds of angels we have been able to adopt out. Between all of our radio stations, we get a large bunch in, and we try and adopt them out as quickly as we can because we know the need is so great, and it seems like this year the need is just so much greater."
The angel tree campaign is just one way for others to help meet the need.
"This is such a wonderful time," says Stevens. "It brings out such giving of people and it reminds everyone what the spirit of Christmas is all about, and there certainly no reason why a child should have to a Christmas without gifts."
To adopt an angel, just stop by The Radio People Studios on Old Highway 45 or listen to Q101, 97OKK, Kiss 104.1, or 105.7 The Beat.
