Meridian, Miss. Local organizers along with the Mississippi Director of Tourism Tuesday announced the Rails to Reels Film Festival to take place in Meridian Oct. 16-19.
The main venue for the festival will be the Temple Theatre, but will also include Weidmann's, Union Station, and Brickhouse Bar and Grill.
People will be able to submit their films starting in April.
State Tourism Director Malcolm White says he loves that Meridian is celebrating the year of the creative economy with this festival.
"We think that film festivals are an excellent and great way for local communities to tell their story, to create tourism, to create civic pride, to invite people to their town," said White.
White says this film festival is an event that can help build economic development in the state.
