Dr. Leroy Ramsey to be Eulogized

Services for the late Dr. Leroy Ramsey will be Thursday in Meridian.

The Meridian native was active in the civil rights movement.

Ramsey died last week at the age of 90, at his home in Pennsylvania.

The T. J. Harris High School graduate wrote numerous books on education, civil rights and African American war heroes.

Ramsey also founded an African American museum in New York state.

His funeral will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Mt. Zion Baptist Church in Meridian. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at Mississippi Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Newton County.
