Meridian, Miss. Students at Northwest Middle School gathered Friday as part of Red Ribbon Week.
The students signed pledges to stay drug free. Members of Teaching Alcohol, Addiction, Anger Management Education, or T.A.M.E., talked to the students about their past mistakes with drugs and talked about how they overcame those mistakes.
"They really brought a powerful message, and which our students listened, and we encourage them to take this message out to the community and encourage their friends, family members, community members," said Jackie McFarland, principal of Northwest Middle School.
The Meridian Police Department held a K-9 demonstration at the event, and Meridian mayor Percy Bland also spoke to the students.
