Relay for Life and its sponsors gathered at Mississippi Power for the unveiling of the poster with this year's honorary chairs. Each year individuals in the community who have battled or are continuing to battle cancer are nominated and then voted on by Lauderdale County and the city of Meridian. This year, Earl Wheatley and Jack Huntley were chosen for the honor. Survivor Chair Cathy Raley says these men serve as an important symbol for all who see the poster.
"That's what relay and the research we do with Relay for Life and the American Cancer Society is to have survivors. It's really nice to know that these guys represent us so much," Raley says.
The two men will be speaking at various events about their survival and all the help provided by Relay for Life.
