Relay for Life, an event to honor friends and family who are fighting cancer, and those who have won their battle against the disease.

A night to remember those we've lost to cancer, and raise money to find a cure.

Lauderdale County's Relay for Life is back at Ray Stadium, and dozens upon dozens of teams are set to walk the track all night long.

"Our chapter has been touched [by cancer]," says Alpha Kappa Alpha member Amanda Carter, "and we just cannot go without participating."

"We will walk all night because cancer never sleeps."

Organizers are hopeful that hundreds of thousands of dollars will be raised when all is said and done Saturday morning.

In 2011 about $280,000 went to the American Cancer Society, and officials say the biggest goal is making sure that each team reaches individual fundraising marks.

Gates opened at 6 PM Friday night and Relay will continue until 7 AM Saturday morning.
