Kelly Paul Brown, Jr., is facing multiple felony charges after committing crimes at two separate locations in Lauderdale County Saturday night. In the first, Meridian police say he robbed a woman of her purse at knife-point in the Bonita Wal-Mart parking lot. In that case he is charged with armed robbery, but is also facing an aggravated assault charge from the incident as well.
"The aggravated assault warrant comes from the fact that during the incident, the suspect allegedly cut the adult victim's child during the course of the robbery," said Capt. Dean Harper of the MPD.
Rachel Rowe, 29, is also facing an armed robbery charge for driving the car during that incident.
Bond for Brown was set at $500,000 for the armed robbery and $250,000 for the aggravated assault. Rowe's bond was set at $400,000 for the armed robbery.
Just a few hours later, Brown made an appearance at the Clarkdale Superette, where he swiped a donation jar for the family of late Enterprise Police Chief Randy Boykin. In that case, Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says that the security camera footage helped them determine who they were dealing with.
"He was identified by some of our investigators by the surveillance video at the Clarkdale Superette," said Calhoun. .
The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department has been searching for Brown for quite a while on an unrelated Burglary warrant, and with coordination from the Meridian Police and Clarke County Sheriff's Department, he was able to be identified as the suspect in both cases and tracked down to Northern Clarke County.
"One of our investigators, as well as well as deputies with the Clarke County Sheriff's Department made contact through a cell phone with him yesterday evening just after 6:00 p.m.," said Calhoun. "We were able to talk to him, and he made a decision to turn himself in."
