Meridian, Miss. Some men got fitted in high heels Wednesday in preparation for the High Heel Dash this weekend, part of the Queen City Race for Life.
The annual event that promotes breast cancer awareness takes place Saturday morning at Dumont Plaza. It started to honor Judy Bounds Rutledge, who recently passed away from breast cancer.
The guys take part in the race for the women in their lives.
"Men that are running in the race; most of them are husbands that have had wives that have has breast cancer," said Cindy Kane Schrock. "And some of the guys that are running is for either co-workers or significant others, and it has just been a fun event for everyone."
Registration for the event starts at 6:30 a.m. The events kick off at 8 am.
Proceeds for the Race for Life go to the American Cancer Society, the Cancer Benevolence Fund, and the Judy Bounds Rutledge Scholarship Fund at Meridian Community College.
