A Lauderdale County school bus was involved in a crash Monday about 3:50 p.m. near Highway 19 North and Rocky Ridge Road.
Thirteen students from West Lauderdale were on the bus at the time of the accident. A Ford Fusion collided with, and went under, the bus, flipping it in the process.
The two passengers in the car, who are both teachers in the Philadelphia Public School District had to be extracted from the vehicle and were taken to Meridian hospitals with non-life threatening injuries.
The students were able to evacuate the bus through the emergency exits. Approximately nine students were taken to area hospitals, also with non-life threatening injuries.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the accident, with the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department assisting.
