Search Continues for Attempted Kidnapping Suspect

Meridian Police say they are searching for a tall and skinny white male in connection with an attempted kidnapping of a 14-year old girl on Saturday. Investigators say the suspect was seen driving an older model XLT truck with an American flag sticker on it.

Preston Pearson lives just down the street from where Meridian Police say an attempted kidnapping happened in the 1500 block of 22nd Avenue Heights early Saturday Morning. Pearson says he has lived on 22nd Avenue Heights for many years and there are rarely any problems in the area.

"It's a bad thing and we need for the police to be checking out in this area more," he says. "Also, I think the citizens is going to have to check more around their property and all."

Pearson also says he believes kids should not be out as late as 1:00 in the morning either, which is when police say the attempted kidnapping took place. He says making sure kids are inside at a reasonable hour is crucial.

Meridian Police Chief James Reed told Newscenter 11 earlier this week that he hopes to solve the case soon and that there is no reason for the community to feel unsafe.

"I encourage the community to come forward with any information relevant and or any information about other individuals who may be trying to kidnap or pick up young females," Reed said.
