Search Continues for Burglary Suspect

Lauderdale County, Miss. Lauderdale County authorities have charged one man in connection with a residential burglary and are still searching for a second suspect.

The Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department says it has charged 27-year old Terrell Lamar Wilson in the case. Sheriff's deputies are currently searching for 19-year old Jazmine Lachae Ramsey.

It started with a bizarre turn of events inside of a home on Russell Mount Gilead Road on Wednesday where Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says Wilson and Ramsey walked inside after the homeowner walked outside and left the door unlocked or possibly open.

"They tied up, bound, and then placed into a closet the female that was in the residence," Calhoun explains. "They were in the course of burglarizing the house."

Calhoun tells Newscenter 11 there was a brief struggle between the homeowner and suspects, which ended up outside. The suspects apparently fired two shots with the homeowner's gun before running off into the woods. No one was hit by the gunfire.

"According to witnesses, they were shot in the air," Calhoun says. "We believe just to cause the homeowner to not chase them or come after them."

Sheriff's investigators apprehended Wilson not long after the incident. Calhoun says while a perimeter was still set up, deputies encountered a partially dressed Ramsey.

"Who indicated she had been left there by her boyfriend," Calhoun recounts. "That he had assaulted her and that she was in need of medical attention."

Calhoun says Ramsey ended up sneaking out of the hospital, but not before authorities obtained her identity. Warrants have now been issued for her arrest. Wilson faces several charges.

"Burglary, armed robbery, kidnapping, and being a felon in possession of a firearm," Calhoun points out.

At last check, Wilson is still being held at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility. If you have any information on Ramsey's whereabouts, you are asked to call Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
