Lauderdale County, Miss. UPADTE 3:30 PM: There is no new information on the search for a gunman in Toomsuba from last night. Lauderdale County Deputies continue to search for Emmanuel Wooten, who is wanted in connection with the recent shooting of a child, and allegedly got into a shootout with deputies last night. If you see Wooten, call 911.

Sheriff Billy Sollie says Lauderdale County deputies will continue checking vehicles around the perimeter of the search area near and beyond Lauderdale-Toomsuba Road overnight.

Lauderdale County Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun says no deputies were injured by gunfire Wednesday evening. Calhoun says the suspect has been shot, and the search will continue until he is in custody.

Sheriff Sollie says that suspect is a man wanted for questioning in last week's shooting of a ten-year old Marion girl. The man's name is Emmanuel Wooten. The suspect is considered armed and dangerous.

"Pay close attention tonight (Wednesday night) if you hear a noise outside when you are home tonight, dial 911 immediately, and notify the sheriff's department," said Sheriff Sollie. "We are going to be in the neighborhood throughout the evening, throughout tomorrow, until this individual is apprehended."

Wooten is described as a 20-year-old black male, who may be injured, possibly critically. If you have any information, or see anything suspicious, immediately call 911 or Crimestoppers at 601-485-1860.
