Seven Deaths Blamed on Winter Weather in Mississippi

Pascagoula, Miss. A Moss Point woman's death is at least the seventh in Mississippi related to last week's winter weather.

Authorities say 60-year-old Brenda Diane Stopher was last seen alive early Thursday, when temperatures were still below freezing. Her body was found Friday at Ingalls Shipbuilding.

Police Captain James DeShannon Massey tells WLOX-TV she was a waitress in Jackson County and lived alone.

Jackson County Coroner Vicki Broadus says she died of hypothermia.

On Thursday a man died when his car hit a patch of ice and rolled over in Walthall County.

On Wednesday, a passenger died in a vehicle that ran into a stalled tractor-trailer in Smith County.

On Tuesday, four Itawamba County residents died in fire blamed on a faulty gas heater.
