Lauderdale County's director of emergency management is retiring at the end of the year.
David Sharp is retiring from LEMA after 8 years as its director. He came on board after the devastation of Hurricane Katrina.
There will be a retirement reception for Sharp Friday at Evangel Temple from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.
Before joining LEMA, Sharp spent 24 years as a firefighter with the city of Meridian.
