Meridian, Miss. Two local schools were placed on lock-down Tuesday morning after reports that shots had been fired near the campus.
Meridian police say they are searching for three male juveniles believed to be between the ages of fourteen and sixteen.
The gunshots were fired in the air in Velma Young Park about 10 a.m. Nearby Parkview Elementary and Magnolia Middle School were placed on lock-down as a precaution.
There were reports at the time that the persons who fired the shots were headed toward campus. Police quickly responded to the scene and made sure the campus was safe.
MPD spokesman, Dereall Thompson, said there was good communication between Meridian police, the Lauderdale County Sheriff's Department, and campus police.
Authorities were still looking for the three juveniles allegedly involved in the shooting. They say they're being sought on charges of shooting inside the city limits.
