The South Volunteer Fire Department has acquired a new pumper truck.
It's the first new truck it has received in several years.
Fire department officials say they'll soon go through training on how to use the truck. They say it will help them a lot as they try to keep people in their district safe.
"The older truck is a thousand- gallon-a-minute pumper, where this one is 1250," said Chief Farrar Grisham. "In other words, it'll pump more water. It won't carry more, but it'll pump more. And as you can see, it's got plenty of compartment space that we didn't have in the other truck."
Prior to this truck, the newest model truck the South VFD was a 1995 model.
