Students Reach Out to Deployed Guardsman

Meridian, Miss. Students at St. Patrick School in Meridian got to meet with a local member of the Mississippi National Guard Tuesday, after corresponding with him when he was overseas.

Third grade students wrote letters to Senior Airman Everette "Trey" Fox of the 186th Security Forces Squadron. Their teacher and her friend sent him a care package and thought it would be a great idea for the students to send the letter to him.

Fox came to the school to thank them in person and answer any questions they might have.

"It gives you a warm heart, you know," said Fox. "Kids being appreciative, and someone they don't know, and they write you a letter to thank you for what you are doing."

"For them to actually meet him and to actually see him and who they wrote the letter to, I feel like is very important," said teacher Lauren Walker.

Fox also says he hopes that the students will be even more appreciative of family members and friends that serve in the military.
