Students See Educational Puppet Show

Oakland Heights Elementary School hosted the Puppet Arts Theatre's presentation of Trickster Tales starring Anansi the Spider. The spider is a character in West African folk tales, which are designed to teach children life lessons.

"The children are very excited about it, because it gets them to see storytelling in real life," said principal Barbara Young. "It's a real life theater production so they get to see all of the animals as they go throughout this presentation."

The performances were in conjunction with the Whole Schools Initiative through the Mississippi Arts Commission, which helps schools incorporate the arts into learning.
