Surveillance Footage Shows Liquor Store Robbery

Meridian, Mississippi There were some terrifying moments inside of a local business Friday after a clerk was greeted by two robbers and a revolver.

Meridian Police responded to a call around 5:20 p.m. on 19th Street. Two black males armed with a revolver robbed the Liquor Store of all the money in the register.

On Saturday, Newscenter 11 spoke with the clerk who wishes to remain anonymous about his experience. He says the two men walked in with their weapons and told him it was a hold-up. He tried telling the men he didn't know how to open the register, but to no avail.

The clerk says he was standing in the back when the two men entered. He tells Newscenter 11 one suspect then opened the register and the second suspect emptied the register. Surveillance footage shows the clerk was able to stand aside while the men took the money and he remained unharmed as the men escaped.

"They fled on foot," MPD Captain Dean Harper says. "The clerk was not injured. The description of the two individuals is average height, average weight, and their ages are between 17 and 30 years old."

Both men had their faces covered with handkerchiefs. The robbers were last seen headed toward 18th Street and 18th Avenue. Right now, no other witnesses have come forward with any information on the robbery.

"We're hoping anyone who has any information will come forward and provide it to the police," Harper adds. "If anyone has any information about this crime, we ask them to call Crimestoppers at 485-1860."

This is not the first time the 19th Street Liquor Store has been robbed.
