Lauderdale County, Miss. The Lauderdale County Sherriff's Department apprehended a suspect late Saturday night after a pursuit that lasted 25 minutes. Chief Deputy Ward Calhoun told WTOK that a deputy initiated a traffic stop on 22nd Avenue near the interstate by Wendy's. After the deputy briefly made contact with the driver, the driver then sped away from the scene and led police on a high speed chase, with speeds up to 100 mph.

"The pursuit went down 22nd Avenue Heights, off on to Highway 45, then down Highway 19 and 496 and ended up on Koa Campground Road near the residence of the suspect, an Eric K. Loeber," said Calhoun.

Calhoun says when Loeber arrived at Koa Campground Road he left the vehicle and ran into the woods. After additional deputies arrived on scene, they hunted for Loeber in the woods and after spotting him, Calhoun says deputies had to taze him multiple times. They then apprehended him and took him into custody, where multiple charges awaited him.

"He has been charged with multiple misdemeanor offenses, which consist of careless driving, no proof of insurance, littering, suspended drivers license, and DUI First," said Calhoun. "He's also been charged with felony fleeing and eluding."

Loeber was taken into custody at the Lauderdale County Detention Facility where he is being held on a $20,000 bond on the felony charge.
