The man accused of killing a Catholic priest and stealing his car for a Disney vacation is expected back in Mississippi next week, where he could have a first appearance in
court Thursday.
Waveland Police Chief James Varnell says he hopes to bring
Jeremy Wayne Manieri back from Florida no later than Wednesday so he can have a hearing the following day in Municipal Court.
Manieri is accused of shooting the Rev. Edward E. Everitt of
Hammond, La., with the priest's gun at a beach house in Waveland.
Manieri is being held in Polk County, Fla., where he was arrested while traveling with his ex-wife, 10-year-old stepson and 5-year-old daughter.
Florida authorities say he gave a detailed confession and left a trail of evidence, including the priest's wallet, car and gun.
