The superintendent of Meridian Public Schools delivered his annual state of the district address to the Meridian Rotary Club.
Dr. Alvin Taylor spoke about the district's accomplishments over the past year. He says the construction projects and incentive plans have been moving smoothly. The district implemented a consent degree and a new PBIS (Positive Behavioral Intervention and Supports) approach.
Taylor says the schools have increased security staff, and he's especially proud of their academic successes.
"We're very pleased with our results from 2013-2014," said Taylor. "As always, I can't speak on specific test scores and results because the scores are under embargo, but I can say we were successful in meeting our goals."
Taylor says Meridian schools are off to the best start he has seen yet.
