Teachers Try to De-Stress

Lauderdale County, Miss.

Some local teachers got a special day in advance of a long rest-of-the-week in testing.

Teachers at Northeast Lauderdale Middle School got a 'spa day' Monday during their off periods.

They were able to come into their break room and get free manicures, pedicures and massages.

School officials say it's a simple way to help them de-stress before the upcoming MCT2 testing.

"It shows our appreciation for the teachers, and hopefully, it relaxes them and the kids as well," said principal, Billy Burnham. "Because we don't want a stressful test environment. They had 30 something weeks to get ready, so we want the students to be confident and the teachers to be confident that they're going to do well."

The spa treatment was sponsored by Citizens National Bank and the school's parent teacher organization.
