Teen Charged under Cyberstalking Law

Philadelphia, Miss. A Philadelphia teenager has been arrested after posting a video involving a gun on social media, threatening another student.

Philadelphia police say they were notified of the video Wednesday night and contacted a youth court judge. A 15-year-old male was arrested about midnight that evening.

The teenager is being charged with making an electronic threat under Mississippi's cyberstalking law.

Officials say the firearm was recovered from another residence. The gun is a pellet gun that strongly resembles a 1911-style firearm.

Philadelphia police say quick action prevented any danger at school.

"School was out," said Philadelphia Police Chief Grant Myers. "You know, we try to be proactive in dealing with it before school, before the next morning, before school starts."

The case is being handled in youth court. The teen will be charged as a juvenile. He was still in custody Friday and awaiting a hearing.
