Meridian, Mississippi A group of teens from our nation's capital is in the Queen City this week to learn more about the importance of civil rights.
Teens from "Operation Understanding D.C." gathered at Western Sizzlin' on Frontage Road in Meridian on Wednesday night to hear from civil rights icon Roscoe Jones. Jones shared his experiences from his involvement in the civil rights movement as a teenager.
"Most people forget that the civil rights movement were made up of teenagers," Jones explains. "That the teenagers were the movement. We talk about the young people's involvement in it, but it went beyond young people. It went down to teenagers."
The group of teenagers will be visiting the Dentzel Carousel on Thursday morning in Meridian.
