Lauderdale County, Mississippi People will be gathering with family and friends to celebrate Independence Day with fireworks.
Enjoying fireworks has become a part of July 4th. Although Independence Day festivities can be fun, people often forget how dangerous fireworks can be. When it comes to fireworks, you need to take precautions ensure the holiday is injury free. Mike Eckstrom from Hale Fireworks says parents need to keep a close eye on their children when they are handling any firework.
"Just as far as safety wise, parents have common sense. Don't let your children have anything that if you think it's dangerous for you, don't let your children have it., because kids are going to get in trouble and you know they are going to eventually do something," said Eckstrom.
Eckstrom says safety glasses and ear plugs are smart to use. He also says not to mix alcohol and cigarettes with fireworks because those can lead to accidents.
