Tire Store Owner Searching for Arsonist

All may seem well with J&J Tire from the front of the store on 8th Street, but it's a completely different story around back. You can see where there was a serious fire that store owner Greg Gillen says damaged the metal structure, as well as his tire supply.

"What we believe happened is there was a person that came and lit the building on fire," Gillen says.

In surveillance video taken around 12:30 a.m. on September 25th, you can see an individual walking around the back of the store. It has not been determined what the total cost in damage is, but Gillen says he's focused right now on finding the person who is responsible for starting the fire.

"We are going to offer a $5,000 reward for arrest and conviction," he says.

Gillen tells Newscenter 11 the incident not only impacts him and his family members, but other employees also. However, they are thankful the building could be saved and that they are able to continue doing business.

Meridian Fire Chief Anthony Clayton says he can only say that an investigation is underway right now.

Anyone with information about the fire should contact Crimestoppers. The number is 601-485-1860.
