Traveling Smithsonian Exhibit in Meridian

Meridian, Miss. A traveling Smithsonian exhibit will be on display in Meridian, starting Saturday. It was set up Friday at the
Mississippi Industrial Heritage Museum and Soule' Steam Works, 1808 4th Street.

The exhibit is titled The Way We Worked and covers work in America from the late 1900s until near the end of the 20th century.

It will make six stops in Mississippi, the first of which is in Meridian.

The exhibit features those who worked hard to make this country great.

"It is important to realize where we came from and how hard people once worked, often at manual labor sorts of jobs, and the commitments that they had to those various works that they did," said David Morgan of the Mississippi Humanities Council.

The exhibit is free and open to the public. Fore more information, call 601-693-9905. The exhibit will remain in Meridian through mid-November.

The Sole' Live Steam Festival is Nov. 1-2, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Admission to that is also free of charge.
