United Way Hits 30%

The United Way of East Mississippi has taken the first step toward its 2012-2013 goal.

The agency Friday placed three markers on the thermometer that tracks progress toward a $1 million goal.

Officials say the community's support is crucial to reaching the record-setting goal. As of now, thirty percent of the goal has been reached.

"So far this year in the campaign we've been really pleased with the response of our businesses," said The United Way's Greg Bott. "They've come in over and above last year and we are excited."

United Way serves seventeen agencies and causes locally, including Meals on Wheels, Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts, LOVE's Kitchen and the Red Cross.
