United Way Prepares to Stuff the Bus

Meridian, Miss.
The United Way is already making plans for its annual Stuff the Bus drive.

The effort brings in donated supplies to make sure school children have the tools they need for the classroom.

You may help by supplying uniforms or classroom supplies.

"They can bring us new or gently used uniforms that they're not using anymore. Or buy a new one to give to a child," said The United Way's Sara Odom. "Or this year, you can also do a monetary gift. We have a kit put together with ready-made school supplies and uniform package. And for $60 you can then provide one child with all the supplies and uniforms to go back to school."

Businesses and churches are being invited to help by putting drop boxes at their locations for supplies.

Monetary gifts for supplies for children in K-5 in Meridian and Lauderdale County schools may be mailed or brought to: The United Way, 2003 23rd Avenue, Meridian, MS 39301.

There will also be a mass collection at the Stuff the Bus event set for July 16 at Dumont Plaza.
