Meridian, Miss. We are saddened to report that we have lost the longest serving member of the WTOK family.
Edna LaShane passed away Friday morning after a week long stay at the hospital. Edna worked here for 45 years.
You may remember an anniversary party we had for her late last year.
Edna, 72, worked in our traffic and programming department until Apr. 24 when health issues put her in the hospital.
"This station was her passion, and along with her family, the center of her life," said WTOK general manager Tim Walker. "Edna claimed everyone who worked here as family and saw the best in all of them. She was loved by every member of this staff and held in the highest regard. The last few days were a struggle for her, but she was determined to 'be back at work in a few days'."
Walker said her spirit and determination were inspirational to all of us. Edna was much loved by her co-workers and we send our deepest sympathies to her family.
