Meridian's 24th Avenue location of Walgreens hosted a special event Tuesday to help area residents prepare for severe weather.
The store brought in extra staff and served refreshments as a part of a day-long event promoting the use of weather radios.
Staff members were on hand to help customers program the radios. Store manager, Anand Aguillard, says a weather radio is an important tool during severe weather season.
"We wanted to do a solid entry into the season and make sure that everyone knows that they are available to everyone," said Aguillard. "So they'll still be up and available throughout the season, and throughout the summer as well. And when everyone needs help getting programmed, we can always help them out."
Newscenter 11 meteorologist, Will Harkins, also stopped by the store Tuesday to help program weather radios for patrons.
