Just days after being arrested in a kidnapping case, a Meridian man has been charged with intimidating a witness.
The charge was filed Thursday against 32-year-old Reginald J. Walton. His bond was set at $50,000.
Earlier this week, Walton was arrested on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping of his girlfriend. Police say he held the woman against her will and at one point choked her in an attempt to take her life.
Police say the victim managed to escape after three days and reported the crimes to police.
The attempted murder charge is new under Mississippi law. It was added as an option by the state legislature this year. The potential sentence upon conviction is 20 to 40 years.
