Jackson, Miss.
There are several ways you can help storm victims recover from weather damage.

Many of you may want to help clean-up these communities. As we've seen before, volunteers play an important role in that.

But make sure you don't rush to judgment and find yourself in an unsafe situation. That's why it's best to link up with a disaster recovery group.

Volunteer Mississippi is registering folks now. The group will notify you when it is safe to go into the impacted areas, then direct you to where help is needed most.

"That's the easiest way. With such a wide swath of damage across the state, we want to be able to reach as many people as we can by making sure we have the resources to get to them," said Jared Turner of the American Red Cross.

Another option for helping safely is to give blood. Mississippi Blood Services is supplying blood for any storm victims that require it. You may donate at donor centers or any local blood drives. Also, United Blood Services has a blood drive set for Northeast Lauderdale High School Thursday from 8 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
