The Lauderdale County Courthouse experienced a heavy flow of traffic Friday.
The recent winter weather took a toll on businesses as most had to close due to inaccessible roads.
With the courthouse being closed as well, people wanting to pay their property taxes in person risked being late.
However, Tax Collector Stanley Shannon says there is still time to make on-time payments.
"Since Feb.1 is going to be during the weekend, Monday will also be a day that there will be no interest charged on your payment," said Shannon. "Even though it's after the first, you still won't get charged any interest."
Interest will start being applied to late property tax payments as of Tuesday, Feb. 4.
