Weather Postpones Outdoor Events

Meridian, Miss.

Rainy weather expected to last for several days has forced the cancellation of major events in the Meridian area.

Officials with the American Cancer Society announced Wednesday it's postponing of the Lauderdale and Neshoba County relays for life. It apologized for the inconvenience, but asked teams to continue fundraising.

The relay in Meridian was set for Friday night at Ray Stadium. Lauderdale County officials announced they have rescheduled it for Friday, June 7th, at 6 PM in the Lauderdale County AgCenter. An important Team Captain's Meeting will take place on Thursday, May 16 at 5:30 PM at Mississippi Power to discuss details of the new plans and venue.

Neshoba County rescheduled for May 17 from 6 p.m. to midnight at the Neshoba Central football field.

Officials with Meridian Main Street also announced the cancellation of the After 5 Alive concert that was supposed to take place Thursday evening.

Amy Lott and the Usual Suspects were set to perform at Dumont Plaza. The concert had already been delayed once because of weather.

Officials say that concert will take place with downtown when the After 5 Alive series starts back in the fall.
