The National Weather Service says a super cell that spawned tornadoes in Tuscaloosa County was
responsible for the formation of an EF-3 tornado that slammed into Jefferson County early Monday.

Weather service officials say damage surveys are continuing Tuesday after an outbreak of severe storms and tornadoes.

The weather service says one team will be surveying damage in Perry and Chilton counties. Another will be in Tuscaloosa and Jefferson counties. A third team will be in Elmore, Autauga and Tallapoosa counties.

Authorities say the same super cell that spawned two tornadoes in northern Tuscaloosa County later produced an EF-3 tornado with an estimated wind speed of 150 mph that struck the town of Clay in
Jefferson County.

Two people were killed and 100 hurt in the outbreak of storms.
