World Fiddle Ensemble Visits Meridian

Meridian, Mississippi The World Fiddle Ensemble out of Nashville is visiting Meridian.

The musicians will be working with more than 160 children signed up for Tuesday's Meridian Symphony Fun Fest at the MSU Riley Center. They will also perform a short program Tuesday afternoon that is free for the public. We caught up with them as they entertained Stage Two youth theater members and their families at Meridian's Temple Theatre.

"I think I speak for all of us when i say this. Playing music is like more than just a job kind of thing for us. Playing world fiddle music or fiddle music in general is important and kind of keeping a tradition going and passing that on," said Emily Scalici of the World Fiddle Ensemble.

Meridian native Benjamin Johnson is a member of the World Fiddle Ensemble. The performance is Tuesday at 2 p.m. at the Riley Center. It's free, but you will need reservations. Just call (601) 693-2224.
