Young Boy Upgraded to Stable Condition after Near Drowning

Meridian, Mississippi A young Meridian boy has been upgraded to stable condition Friday in a Jackson hospital after nearly drowning Thursday evening.

Emergency workers responded to the call just after 7 p.m. at a home on 57th Court, near Newell Road. Meridian police say the boy apparently was playing outside and fell in the pool. Emergency workers performed CPR on the boy. He was taken to a local hospital, but then airlifted to Blair Batson's Children's Hospital.

Officials say the boy is alert and doing much better.
