A few Meridian Police Department cadets got a taste of pepper spray during a training session Monday night.
An officer sprayed a few squirts of O-C spray so they could get a feel for the effects. Coordinators say they will carry the spray and may have to use it for self defense.
"When they are riding with us in case an officer would need an extra can or for self defense of someone threatening their well beings," said Cadets Supervisor Tommie Coker.
Cadets are members of the police department that range in age from 14 to 21.
