Saturday was a celebratory night for a local organization.
The Meridian Chapter of the NAACP held their Annual NAACP Freedom Fund Banquet. Guests were treated to dinner and a guest speaker. Members of the local division say the banquet allows them to celebrate what they stand for. This reminds them of their overall goal.
"Our message, or our goal is, what we do is make sure people's rights are protected. So that's what we do. We make sure everyone's civil rights are protected.," says Willie Mabrowe, a member of the Meridian NAACP.
Meridian's NAACP also aims to give away scholarships for those who are deserving. Part of the banquet is giving away those scholarships.
