Ernie Haase and Signature Sound are headed to Meridian this weekend for a big concert for a special cause.
The award-winning gospel quartet will take the stage at the Temple Theater at 6:00 Saturday night. The concert will be a fundraiser for little Dawson Smith, a Meridian toddler in need of a bone-marrow transplant. We talked with Haase by telephone about the show. He says he's humbled to be a part of helping the Smith family, and excited to come back to Meridian to debut the group's new dvd called "Oh, What a Savior." "We want people to leave with hope and joy," Haase told Newscenter 11. "Not happiness, because circumstances change, but joy that runs deeper. That's what we do with our music and that's what we hope to accomplish. And that everybody leaves feeling like, 'You know what? I'm ten feet tall, I'm bullet-proof, because God loves me just the way I am." Tickets are just $12.00 or $15.00 now, or $20.00 and $17.00 the day of the show. Also, there will be a benefit fish fry for little Dawson Smith at the Temple Theater starting at 11:00 Saturday morning, lasting throughout the day. Plates are $10.00 each.
