Meridian, Miss. Acclaimed Mississippi artist Wyatt Waters and Chef Robert St. John have collaborated on a unique project, and were in Meridian today to talk about it.
This time it's "An Italian Palate," a cookbook spotlighting Italy's cuisine and art. The two were at Cater's Market in Meridian today, signing copies of the book. Waters painted 128 watercolors in 70 days in Italy, while St. John perfected his Italian dishes.
"For me, it was the best work I've been able to do in my life," said Waters, "and a lot of it had to do with, I get to travel with Robert, he's my best friend, and I get to do something I love to do, and have been doing all my life." He added, "And I got to do it at a pace that I've never been able to do."
St. John added, "This is my ninth book, and I don't think I'll ever do anything better. The trip, I was there with my wife and two kids, my best friend. We were in Italy, and covered from the Southern most tip of Sicily to the Alps."
The book is available at Cater's Market on Highway 493 in Meridian.
