Guitars and Gridirons Event Brings People to Downtown

Meridian, Mississippi A local restaurant and bar played host to a big event Thursday night to kick off the college football season.

Fans got to come out and take part in the Guitars and Gridirons event. The event offered lots of food and drink, and fans got to watch all of the college football games going on Thursday night. Guitars and Gridirons also helped out a local organization.

"The special purpose is to raise money for the promotion of the Jimmie Rodgers Festival and museum. We do a lot of activities, we invest a lot in this community," said Betty Lou Jones, the President of the Jimmie Rodgers Foundation.

Fans were able to cheer on the Ole Miss Rebels as they played their season opener against Boise State.
